Anne-Tier 6

Anne has over five years of experience supporting parents in northern New Jersey and New York City. She is a DONA-certified birth doula, postpartum doula, Lamaze-certified childbirth educator, bereavement doula, and certified lactation counselor. Anne has specialized training in the use of the rebozo in labor, Hypnobirthing, Spinning Babies (optimal fetal positioning), and the use of TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation). She is also co-leader of the Bergen County chapter of ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) and has considerable knowledge regarding cesarean birth and vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). In addition to her doula training and experience, Anne brings extensive personal experience as a mother of four, having given birth by cesarean section as well as three doula-attended VBACs, witnessing firsthand how a doula makes a difference. Anne’s goal is to help clients give birth with the emotional and physical support they deserve. She has a "whatever works" attitude and assists clients in clarifying their own preferences and priorities, then does whatever possible to fulfill them, with loving support, not judgment. Her favorite part of this work is watching families grow in love and wisdom. In addition to birth work, Anne has a Ph.D. in Italian literature and is fluent in Italian, is an avid runner, and homeschools her children. If she’s not with a doula client, she’s usually out running, daydreaming of a trip to Italy, or dragging her kids to yet another museum.
